this just came up on my feed but i think this website would go crazy in japan!!! i don’t use hobonichi anymore but i think i can still utilize this for my planner. thank you for making this software!! ❤️
Hello! I am M, based out of India. I came across your article and ended up messing around a little bit with the journal and can I just say I’m over the moon? It’s adorable and amazing!
Thank you for making it.
I had a few suggestions: 1) My bestie and I live in different cities and this seems like THE perfect thing to sort of have as a shared tool to sort of update each other visually on what’s been up. So could it maybe have some kind of share quality/button. And only people with a link to your journal could see it?
2) Could it have a whole calendar option along with the cousin, original and weeks month styles? Where maybe one keeps updating the whole year and then take a print? (and since the photos save on the cache, I’m hoping it won’t be an issue) This is something I would really enjoy seeing worked into the journal because I feel like I struggle with year end blues a lot and a visual composite of everything in one go could be helpful?
Just my thoughts. If I have spoken out of my ass please forgive me. But all in all what a great tool! Love it! 🩵🩷🧡
Sorry for the late reply, thank so much M!! I really appreciate you checking out my tool and these are SUCH awesome ideas!! I'm gonna add them to my idea tracker and I'll let you know if/when I implement any of these :D
OMG! Thank you. I had sort of lost your page in the middle there and was worried that maybe my suggestions were too outlandish and you blocked me or something:P
I've been building and re-building the same digital journalling application. In my latest version I added a button that just hides all the textboxes so you can use it as a reference for writing on paper instead of the app.
Computers are fun and helpful, but not everything needs to be computers.
Loved the read and was super stoked to see your project announcement on IG!!
I also realized that I relate all too well with productivity zoomies and will thusly act upon them next time the feeling comes up! There's a section in A Creative Act by Rick Rubin that also touches upon this (although I prefer the "productivity zoomies" term a lot more) and it's worth checking out if you ever come across it!
This is adorable and I can absolutely see this being a beloved tool by the HUGE stationery community! Your thoughts about the “productivity zoomies” also really spoke to me as well, and perhaps I’ll lean into my own in the future ✨
Ahhh thank you so much Thien-Kim!! I hope you enjoy the tool!! At some point I'll be adding some features to help with non-Hobonichi monthly journals too <3 let me know if there's anything on your wishlist! 😆
I'm a bullet journaler (not bougie) but I like printing out smaller photos for journaling. I currently have a 2x3ish photo printer but would like the option to print a bunch of smaller photos on a 4x6 sheet which is why I'm looking forward to using Journal Helper
Loved this post Victoria ❤️ both zoomie-driven-development and building niche tools resonates a lot with me and something I have been thinking about for next year - hearing your take on it was really inspiring and motivating ✨
Thank you so much Mads!! Yesss I'm so glad this resonated and I'm excited you're thinking about similar things!! Looking forward to seeing where you take things in 2025 🎊
I admire your journey to build products for people intentionally and in opposition to the logical, but not necessarily correct approaches of Big (and not so big) Tech focusing on problems for the masses and dominating in their product spaces. I think solving problems for niche areas and markets can build really loyal customers who are loyal because they feel seen and heard.

This was a great read, very insightful! I was also feeling rather inspired as a software engineer who also loves stationery!

Thanks Shu, I'm excited too!!! 🥰🥰 I hope your zooming goes as well for you as it did for me! 😆
And oh cool, I'd love to read more on this! I've been recommended A Creative Act a few times... maybe it's time to finally read it 😎

Thanks so much Emily!!! It was honestly exhilarating to let my emotions drive my work for a week and a half 💞 I definitely recommend giving it a try!!
Thanks for Journal Helper! I don't use Hobonichi but it will be helpful for me to resize my photos for my similarly sized layouts.

I totally resonate with the inspiration zoomies! Sometimes I wish I could pull it out whenever though… also excited to see the evolution of pouch!
LOL I feel you on that!! If I could bottle up the zoomies and save it for a rainy day 😆 Thanks so much, corny!! 🫶

I agree with you completely! It feels like a path that is so rewarding for everyone involved 💞 I'm excited to keep exploring it!!
This brings me such joy. Thank you!
Thank you Verity!!! 💖💖💖
